Booking lists 938 hotels for the lake area, TripAdvisor 294 hotels near the lake in Annecy itself: two different areas, not a contradiction. Price ranges by star rating, and why “on the lake” sometimes covers a room 1.8 km from the water.
A “Lake Annecy hotel” is not one place but a whole segment of the hotel market, from the simple 3-star to the landmark lakeside address. Two platforms do not even count the same number of hotels, because they do not measure the same area.

How many hotels are there by Lake Annecy?
Booking.com lists 938 hotels for the “Lac d'Annecy” area, a wide perimeter that includes Annecy and the lakeside villages. TripAdvisor, on a search centred on the town of Annecy and its immediate lakeside, counts only 294 hotels.
These two figures do not contradict each other: they simply describe different areas. The first covers the whole region, the second is limited to the town of Annecy and its immediate surroundings.
How much does a night with a lake view cost?
- 3-star, lake view or nearby: €65 to €120 a night depending on the hotel and the period. Hôtel Les Muses shows from €64, Acacias Bellevue from €75 on the comparison sites.
- 4-star, lakeside: €120 to €250 in low and mid season, often above €250 in July and August, though no official seasonal rate card is published.
- 5-star, landmark lakeside addresses: €250 to €600 depending on the season and room type.

Not always. The same hotel can be described as “on the lake” by one platform and “1.8 km from the lake” by another. The gap comes from how each site defines the area: some measure from the centre of the lake, others from the nearest beach, and hotel marketing prefers the most flattering wording.

Several reviews also mention traffic noise at “lake view” addresses on the roadside: the view is real, the promised peace and quiet not always.
When are the hotels busiest?
The Sources du Lac area (the southern end) recorded 909,000 overnight stays from 26 April to 17 October 2025, up 6.2% on summer 2024 and 40.2% on 2020. Winter 2025-2026, over the same area, totals only 201,400 overnight stays, about four times fewer than summer.
These overnight stays cover the whole season, from April to October, not just the height of summer: no source publishes a monthly breakdown. The ratio of roughly one to four with winter only confirms that the warm season carries most of the demand.
The Sources du Lac tourist office summary allows a ranking to be inferred, without figures: peak demand from late June to late August, medium demand from May to mid-June and from September to mid-October. No source publishes occupancy rates per hotel or a day-by-day curve.
What isn't published about the lake's hotels?
There is no official occupancy rate by hotel or by month. The overall overnight-stay figures do not split hotels, campsites and holiday rentals: the reports lump all tourist beds together.
