Écomusée du Lac d'Annecy in Sévrier: opening hours by season, prices and days to avoid
The small museum of lakeside life in Sévrier, on Lake Annecy, opens almost only on weekdays and changes its hours three times a season. Two price lists are in circulation: €6.50 per adult, €4.50 for ages 3 to 17, €20 for the family ticket on the official website, €7 per adult, €5 for ages 3 to 17, €22 for the family ticket on the tourist office pages.

The Écomusée du Lac d'Annecy tells the story of daily life in the lakeside villages: trades, costumes, household objects, beliefs and traditions. It is in Sévrier, on the west shore, near the village church.
It is a small heritage venue, not a major museum, and its opening hours read like a weekday calendar. Here is when to go, what to budget, and what the official pages do not say in the same way.
When is the Écomusée open?
- May to early July: Monday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm, from 1 May to 5 July 2026.
- July and August: 9.30am to noon and 2pm to 6pm from Tuesday to Thursday, 9.30am to noon only on Mondays and Fridays.
- September: 9.30am to noon and 2pm to 6pm, Tuesday to Thursday.
No page consulted publishes regular opening on Saturdays or Sundays. Outside these periods, a tourist directory states that the museum only takes groups.
Review platforms still show other hours, with opening from 3pm to 6pm only and closure on Saturdays. Phone before making the trip, especially on a public holiday.
How much does entry cost?
| Source | Adult, child aged 3 to 17, family |
|---|---|
| Official Écomusée website (2025) | €6.50 per adult, €4.50 for ages 3 to 17, €20 for the family ticket |
| Lake Annecy tourist office (2026) | €7 per adult, €5 for ages 3 to 17, €22 for the family ticket |
The gap looks like a price rise applied on one page and not the other, but no effective date is published. The family ticket covers two adults and two children, and entry is free for under-3s.
Groups pay €6.50 to €9.50 per adult depending on the package, and €6.50 per child, for groups of 20 or more, by reservation, all year round. A third-party site mentions a paid outdoor trail, which the official pages do not include.
Sévrier lends itself to a full day on the west shore: museum in the morning, beach in the afternoon, cycle path back. The search for accommodation around Annecy also covers Sévrier and Saint-Jorioz.

No visitor counts are published, by the hour or by the day. The opening hours give the answer anyway: in July and August, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday offer both half-days, the other weekdays only the morning.
A weekday morning lets you visit before the heat and keep the afternoon for the water. On Monday and Friday afternoons in summer, the Écomusée is closed according to the tourist page consulted, so do not save it for the end of the day.
Is the visit free on certain days?
During European Heritage Days, yes: in 2026, on Sunday 20 September 2026, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, free entry, with no need to register. It is the only free slot documented, and the only Sunday opening recorded.
Free entry does not extend to other Sundays. Tours in English can be requested in advance, and a folk group associated with the Écomusée leads some presentations.
What is there to do around the Écomusée?
Sévrier beach, supervised in summer, is in the same village: our guide to Lake Annecy's beaches gives its dates and hours. The west-shore cycle path runs through the village, and cycling round the lake details that stretch.
On a grey day, the Écomusée is one of the indoor options listed around the lake, along with Annecy's museums: what to do in Annecy when it rains compares the options and how long each takes.
To round off the visit with a guided outing on the water or in the mountains: activities you can book, with duration and price, are gathered on the Annecy activities page.
